A Great Tile Floor Starts Below the Tile
Cracked tile and hollow-sounding spots almost always come from what is underneath: a floor that flexes, a surface that is not flat, or thin-set that never fully covered the back of the tile. We check the subfloor first, fix what needs fixing, and level the surface before any tile goes down.
From there it is about layout. We plan the pattern from the center of the room so cuts end up at the edges, keep lines straight through doorways into the next room, and make clean transitions to carpet, wood or other flooring.
We install porcelain and ceramic, natural stone and travertine, wood-look plank tile, hexagons and patterned tile, and layouts like herringbone, diagonal and offset.

What Affects the Cost of a Tile Floor
Every home is different, so we price after we have seen the space. These are the things that move the number most:

- The tile: natural stone and large-format tile cost more to buy and to install

Check the Subfloor
We check the subfloor for flatness and movement, since that decides whether tile will crack later.
Prep and Level
Low spots are leveled and the right underlayment goes down for the room and tile size.
Lay It Out
The pattern is planned from the room's main sightline so the cuts at the edges stay even.
Set, Grout, Seal
Tile is set, grouted and sealed where needed, and transitions to other floors are finished cleanly.

Tile floor installation starts at $8.50 per square foot. Removing the old floor, subfloor repair, large-format or natural stone tile, and patterns like herringbone affect the final price, and your quote is itemized.
Sometimes, but usually it is better to remove the old floor so we can check and prepare the subfloor. We look at it during your estimate and tell you which makes sense.
Porcelain is the most popular choice. It is dense, resists stains and moisture, and comes in stone and wood looks. We go through options with you at the estimate.
Yes. Large tile needs a very flat surface to avoid uneven edges, so leveling the floor is part of how we install it.
Yes. Herringbone and other patterns take more planning and cutting, and we lay them out on site so the pattern is centered and the cuts land at the edges.
