A Shower Is Only as Good as What's Behind the Tile
Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own. What keeps water out of your walls and subfloor is the membrane underneath, so every Palacios shower gets a waterproofing membrane on the walls, floor and niches before a single tile is set.
Then comes the part you see. We work with large-format porcelain, marble, zellige, mosaics and handmade tile, and with layouts like herringbone, chevron and stacked vertical. Niches are planned so they line up with the grout joints, and the floor is sloped so water goes to the drain instead of pooling in a corner.
Most of our showers go into homes around Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga and Hixson, and each one gets the same care: tight, even grout lines, straight walls and a clean finish at every edge.

What Affects the Cost of a Custom Shower
Every home is different, so we price after we have seen the space. These are the things that move the number most:
- The size of the shower and how many walls are tiled
- Tile choice: natural stone, zellige and large-format panels cost more to buy and to install
- Layout and pattern complexity
- Niches, benches and other built-in features
- Whether a tub or old shower has to be torn out first, and any repairs found behind it
- Coordinating glass, plumbing or fixture changes

Design the Shower
We talk through size, entry, niches, a bench and the tile you like, then measure the space.
Demo and Inspect
The old shower comes out and we check the framing and subfloor for hidden water damage before building.
Waterproof and Slope
The base is sloped to the drain and the walls and floor are waterproofed before any tile goes on.
Tile and Finish
Tile is set, grouted and sealed where needed, then we walk the finished shower with you.
Common Questions
Walk-in tile showers start at $3,600. Your final price depends on the size of the shower, the tile you choose and features like niches, benches or a curbless entry, and your quote is itemized so you can see exactly where the money goes.
Tear-out of the old shower if needed, a waterproofing membrane on the walls, floor and niches, a properly sloped floor, tile on the floor and walls, niches or a bench if you want them, grout, and caulk. We coordinate with your glass installer for the door or panel.
We focus on the tile and waterproofing. For frameless glass, we work with local glass installers and coordinate the timing so it fits your finished shower.
For walls, large-format porcelain, marble, zellige or handmade ceramic all work well. For the floor, smaller tile like mosaics or hexagons gives better grip and follows the slope to the drain. We go through options with you at the estimate.
In many bathrooms, yes. It depends on the floor structure and the drain, so we check that at your estimate and tell you honestly what is possible.
